Edmonton – Official Opposition Leader David Swann says that the fall session has exposed the deep-rooted rot of an administration that’s been in power for far, far too long.

Health care dominated the fall sitting of the legislature, a focus led by Swann’s Official Opposition.

“As a physician, the longstanding crisis in our emergency departments is exactly what Alberta Liberals have been warning this administration about for years,” Swann says. “ER physicians’ requests for help have been ignored for over two years, but finally, the dam has broken. There’s now a massive public outbreak of anger at the government for their mismanagement of health care.”

Swann points out that while health care dominated the debate, other crucial issues reveal different aspects of Tory mismanagement.

“We mustn’t forget that this administration created a $5 billion deficit,” Swann says. “Or that they’ve dropped the ball on farm worker safety, environmental protection and a long list of other issues.”

Even during the chaos of session, Swann and his team released a new environment policy and a plan to solve the immediate emergency room crisis.

“While we offer solutions, the Tories continue to stonewall, delay and hide the truth. They’ve lost the confidence of the people of Alberta and they simply can’t accomplish anything anymore. They have no plan, no ideas, no confidence and no future.”
